You have business connections with French people? You want to make a quick call to an office 5 minutes before noon? Then good luck, because in France rarely anyone will pick up the phone then. Because it is lunch break. And this time is sacred to the French!
Shortly before noon, he likes to drop his pen in the office and go eat with his colleagues in the restaurant next door. There he usually orders a "Menu du Midi", the lunch menu consisting of 3 courses. A simple but good meal, inexpensive and quickly on the table. And with almost 4000 (!) restaurants in Lyon alone, there is something for every taste.
By the way: A good sign for a popular lunch restaurant in the country are the craftsmen's buses. Artisans have a keen nose for good, inexpensive cuisine and often travel in groups. Because of this, the popular restaurants in the area fill up quickly, even during the week. A friendly but firm "Desolée" then also means, "I'm sorry," there's no more room.
And one more thing: In France, there's no such thing as a break of less than 40 minutes. Of course, this can hardly be done when eating in a restaurant. A lunch break of 1 to 1 1/2 hours is not uncommon, and there are usually lively discussions about all sorts of things at all the tables. And there is always time for the obligatory café (espresso) at the end. Do not forget: The French like to let the Dear God be a good man sometimes ! Very sympathetic.....
Bon appetit !!!
Come, I´ll show you Lyon! Welcome!
